| Meatwaters Music festival 2001 |
The line-up for the Friday the 4th's line-up was as
follows:
mr sterile w/ electronic giggery and pokery by Birchville
Gook Nation
Birchville Cat Motel
CJA
The Testies
Cancer Boy
and Thee Strap-ons.
Saturday's line-up was this:
Anthony
Milton
Sunship
1/3 Octave Band
The Slab
and finally, Loosehead.
The festival started off with the intention of being a festival of
extreme music which was being performed at the time,
yet not bound by specific stylistic limitations.
However, as the planning progressed it grew into something much larger.
The growing line-up was losing
what you might expect from 'extreme' and grew into something much
better.Powerful solo acts like CJA and Cancer Boy gave deliveries with
words and guitar,
intensity doesn't need to be complicated with other instruments
Then there were the acts like Gook Nation, The Slab,
Loosehead, Thee Strap-ons and The Testies.
Rock bands all interpreting the genre from their own independant
angles. Possibly the best Sunship gig ever.Anthony Milton, Birchville,
and the 1/3 Octave band represnted the free elements to sonic
composition.
A Milton developed his own style of electronic and random composition
within conceptual parameters, 1/3 Octave came to the party with the
biggest bass-end in town, and BCM hushed the evening with the quietest
performance of the festival. An exhausting but brilliant couple of
nights. The event turned into quite an unexpected surprise. It
encouraged me with the potential
of organising such an event again.
