OTHER NEWS: mr sterile Assembly has now started the process of recording a new CD. The basis of the first 5 tracks are under way, some rerecording of a few of the tracks of the 15 Minute Crib disc that was a very limited tour release. We will have at least 2 video's to include onto the disc, hopefully more if we can pull all this off by the end of the year.

Posters page updated, mr sterile Assembly page updated, and a new Sabot tour page has been added to the stuff we've organised page.

mp3 page Updated -The album Hulagu has been uploaded plus new recordings of Kieran Monaghan

New new video of the mr sterile Assembly song Buru made for us by Fiver. Most of the footage was gathered at the recent protest at the outcome of the cop-rape trial, and the anger that fermented from that injustice. We are very grateful to Fiver for putting this together for us, a huge thanks.

Finally, I have managed to get this vid from the 2004 mr sterile Assembly album Hulagu online. Made by Mike Heynes. Available in higer quality format when the album of the same name is purchased from the shop.

SHOWS: mr sterile Assembly, Thee Strap-ons, and Xenu. April 21 Saturday, Mightymighty, Wellington, $5 entry. check out the Frankman poster!!!.

Also big changes, and continuation, continue to take place. Our involvement in the theatre group Red Mole/Roadworks has now changed gear. A load of thinking, reflecting blah bblah, and we have got to the point of re-establishing ourselves.
We now will be performing under the guise of Interloper. We have a new show in the pipeline and will be presenting a work-in-progress this easter weekend at the Magdalena Aotearoa National Gathering. It's an exciting opportunityto be able to present work and then critique it afterward with a room full of wealth and experience in the performance words.
So, new photos and audio up soon from the show.

Finally, mr sterile Assembly will start the recording of its new album at the end of April. It will be full-length and will again have video files embeded onto the disc. We're in the process of songwriting at present.

Heres a new show for mr sterile Assembly in a couple of weeks.

Well, thats almost it for 2006, its' been pretty spectacular by all accounts. One thing that hasn't been mentioned [due to uncertainty] is the Ditzy Squall has pretty much offically hung itself up on a hook. We decided it was a good time to put the group out to rest, and it may be that, a rest. We have no idea at present if we will resurect the beasty anytime in the future. It was fun, but now its time to move on. Thanks to all those who entusiastically attended our shows.

GOOD NEWS:
Right oh. I got some brilliant news in an email a few days ago with some followup info regarding the money that we made at the Yogyakarta Earthquake benefit show we put on a few months back.

The email I got was from one of the people we had been dealing with in Yogya. He sent us this photo, which you can see on the left, and he told me that the money that we sent managed to pay for two of these dwellings to be built.

The show was a DIY effort, just as the people in Yogya are working in a communal, DIY way. Not prepared to sit and wait for govt assistance [which has been slow, prompting demos, hunger strikes etc]this group got stuck in and assisted as they could. And for us in a more well off part of the world, any sort of positive input [such as cash] can go a long way.

It is with much saddness and shock that I annouce the death of a very close and dear friend, Sally Rodwell, who died on October 15 2006. Partner, confidante, creative sidekick of the late poet Alan Brunton, who died 4 years ago. Sally has had a long struggle coming to grips with the loss of such a strong partner, they were a unique, vibrant, extreme, wildly creative duo who stirred a huge pot of inspiration and imagination in their wake.

Before Alan died, Sally was a whirlwind, a force to be reckoned with, nearly manic in her need to create, to be involved, always developing something, making something, working on a new project. And since Alans death, Sally had managed to return to study, was coming to the end of her teachers degree, had become more active once again in the theatre world, i guess her second love, with Alan as the first. She was talking about future projects, trip again overseas for workshops, new directions. She had recently returned from Singapore with Magdalena Aotearoa from a wider Magdalena conference in the region, and there she had been involved with theatre and mask making with 'troubled' youth. But none of this was easy. The saddness was monstrous and imessurable.
We have been involved with her with the groups Red Mole and Roadworks for most of the last 10 years, of which there is a link before of some photos of relitively recent shows.

We're shocked, and our thoughts and love go out to Ruby, their daughter.
A tragic end to such a remarkable life, the curse of such a shattered, broken heart.

On another, much happier note, we want to congratulate and say hooray to the birth of STELLA SHINE RAMADHANI, born on October 6, to Lestary in Blitar, Java.

SHOWS: mr sterile Assembly is playing at this years Punkfest, on Friday 20 October.

mr sterile Assembly is also playing on Saturday 21 October at HAPPY , Wellington. It is a fund-raising show for the Save Happy Valley Campaign.

From the Save Happy Valley website:

Happy Valley is a beautiful area of native bush, fragile wetlands and a thriving ecosystem of native birds and animals located on the West Coast of New Zealand, just North East of Westport. It is home to many threatened species including the Great Spotted Kiwi and the large native Patrickensis land snail.... and it is under attack from state-owned enterprise Solid Energy!

Solid Energy has been pushing very aggressively to destroy Happy Valley with an open-cast coal mine and have just recently cleared the neccessary legal hurdles.

A mine in Happy Valley would see the local environment utterly obliterated with mining depths of up to 96m proposed destroying habitats and causing a loss of biodiversity. In turn a much wider area will be seriously affected by polluted rivers and acid mine drainage.

The coal is planned to be exported primarily to be burnt in steel production. The burning of coal releases large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere further adding to climate change or global warming. Climate change is real and happening now and will cause extreme conditions such as drought and flooding, seriously affecting much of the world's population.

We believe this mine must be stopped! We are waging a campaign against Solid Energy to protect Happy Valley and to try to slow climate change.
